China and Russia Pledge Strengthened Collaboration at SCO Summit

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin have reaffirmed the commitment to maintain and strengthen collaboration between China and Russia. Their meeting took place on the sidelines of the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad.

Premier Li emphasized the mutual support between the two nations on core interests and highlighted the continued advancement of practical cooperation. He praised the fruitful strategic cooperation, as well as the flourishing people-to-people and sub-national exchanges between China and Russia.

China expressed readiness to work alongside Russia to implement the important consensus reached by both leaders. The focus is on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation to contribute to the development and revitalization of both countries, thereby promoting global prosperity and stability.

Further deepening cooperation in traditional sectors such as economy, trade, and energy is a priority, alongside advancing collaboration in emerging areas like the digital economy. This initiative aims to enhance bilateral collaboration in industrial and supply chains.

Premier Li also called for the promotion of the Shanghai Spirit among SCO member states, strengthening mutual strategic trust, and adhering to principles of mutual benefit and win-win results. The goal is to foster a more dynamic SCO with pragmatic cooperation and universally beneficial outcomes.

Prime Minister Mishustin echoed the sentiments, expressing Russiaโ€™s willingness to align the Belt and Road Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union. He highlighted the importance of deepening practical cooperation in energy, transportation, and agriculture, as well as maintaining close collaboration within international frameworks such as the United Nations, the SCO, and BRICS.
