A spokesperson for the Chinese mainland's Ministry of National Defense stated on Monday that attempts by separatists to achieve \"Taiwan independence\" are destined to fail.
Wu Qian addressed a media inquiry, highlighting that the recent drills conducted by the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army were specifically targeted at suppressing \"Taiwan independence\" separatist activities. He clarified that these military exercises were not aimed at the residents of Taiwan.
\"We will continue to strive for peaceful reunification with the greatest sincerity and the utmost effort, but we will never promise to renounce the use of force and will not leave any room for 'Taiwan independence,'\" Wu emphasized.
The Eastern Theater Command organized comprehensive drills involving the army, navy, air force, and rocket force. These exercises took place in the Taiwan Straits as well as in areas to the north, south, and east of the island of Taiwan.
