Macao’s Chief Executive Election Lauded as ‘Pioneering’ by Liaison Office

The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has praised the recent election of Sam Hou Fai as the sixth-term chief executive of Macao SAR, describing it as \"pioneering and emblematic.\"

Sam Hou Fai's election marks the first of its kind following the amendments to the Chief Executive Election Law earlier this year, which reinforced the principle of \"patriots administering Macao.\" The Liaison Office commended the election process for being \"open, fair and just,\" highlighting the efficient organization by the Electoral Affairs Commission, the lawful campaigning by the candidates, and the active participation of all sectors of Macao's society.

This smooth and transparent election process is seen as a testament to the successful implementation of the \"One Country, Two Systems\" principle, ensuring Macao maintains a high degree of autonomy while safeguarding the constitutional order as outlined in China's Constitution and the Basic Law of the Macao SAR.

The office expressed confidence in Sam Hou Fai's ability to lead Macao's government and its people with determination and innovation, continuing to advance the region's unique practices under the \"One Country, Two Systems\" framework.

Additionally, the Liaison Office reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the new chief executive and the Macao SAR government in their lawful administration, ensuring continued stability and prosperity for the region.
