China and Colombia Reinforce 44-Year Partnership with BRI Collaboration

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Colombian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo in Beijing on Saturday to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations and Colombia's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Han highlighted the 44-year diplomatic relationship between China and Colombia, emphasizing the consistent momentum in their bilateral ties. He urged both nations to fully implement the important consensus reached by their leaders, deepen political mutual trust, and provide firm support to each other.

Welcoming Colombia's efforts to join the BRI, Han expressed China's readiness to enhance multilateral coordination and practice genuine multilateralism. He underscored the goal of jointly building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Colombian Foreign Minister Murillo affirmed Colombia's adherence to the one-China principle and its commitment to actively participate in the BRI. He expressed Colombia's willingness to deepen cooperation with China across various fields and to collaborate with the Global South to safeguard international fairness and justice.
