In a significant move to bolster regional cooperation, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese president, met with Luong Cuong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and permanent member of the CPV Central Committee Secretariat, in Beijing on Friday.
Xi emphasized that the shared leadership of the communist party and the socialist system forms the cornerstone of both China and Vietnam, providing a solid political foundation for enhancing bilateral relations. He highlighted China's prioritization of Vietnam in its neighborhood diplomacy and expressed readiness to collaborate on deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, safeguarding international fairness, and promoting human progress.
The discussions also focused on fostering a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, underscoring the strategic significance of their partnership. Xi called for strengthening exchanges of ideas, utilizing institutional platforms such as theoretical discussions and cadre training, and enhancing communication on party and state governance to ensure the sustained and correctly oriented development of bilateral ties.
Highlighting the importance of people-to-people connections, Xi urged both nations to leverage the 75th anniversary of their bilateral relations and the upcoming China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges to deepen traditional friendships and garner public support for long-term cooperation.
Moreover, Xi noted that China's continued reforms and high-level opening-up policies will not only drive its own development but also create new opportunities for Vietnam and other countries globally. He expressed confidence in Vietnam's leadership under the CPV Central Committee to achieve the goals set by the 13th National Congress of the CPV, reinforcing the path of reform and modernization.
Luong Cuong reiterated Vietnam's commitment to strengthening ties with China, describing it as an objective need and strategic choice. He pledged Vietnam's dedication to cementing relations between the two parties and countries, expanding cooperation across various fields, managing differences effectively, and striving for new achievements in their comprehensive strategic partnership.
