In a strong show of support, Chinese Premier Li Qiang affirmed China’s commitment to building the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Community and enhancing ASEAN’s pivotal role in regional cooperation and international affairs. Speaking in Vientiane on Wednesday, Premier Li emphasized China’s readiness to engage in deep dialogues with all parties on major regional cooperative issues.
Premier Li highlighted that China aims to contribute to making the ASEAN region a key engine for global development. His remarks come as he arrives for a series of significant meetings, including the 27th China-ASEAN Summit, the 27th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, and the 19th East Asia Summit, scheduled from October 9 to 12.
Addressing the ongoing collaboration between China and Laos, which is currently chairing ASEAN, Li praised Laos for its leadership in practical cooperation and consensus-building. He noted that under the strategic guidance of both nations’ leaders, China and Laos have deepened their comprehensive strategic cooperation, ushering in a new era of building a community with a shared future.
Premier Li also touched upon China’s own developmental goals, mentioning the country’s ongoing reforms aimed at achieving the Second Centenary Goal of becoming a great modern socialist nation. He expressed China’s enthusiasm to work with Laos to align their development strategies, strengthen solidarity, and make substantial progress in building a China-Laos community, ultimately benefiting both peoples.
As leaders gather in Vientiane, the focus remains on fostering East Asia cooperation and advancing regional stability and prosperity. Premier Li’s statements underscore China’s dedication to collaborative growth and its support for ASEAN’s enhanced role on the global stage.
