China Urges U.S. to Revoke $567M Arms Sale to Taiwan Region

The Chinese Ministry of National Defense has strongly condemned the United States' recent decision to provide $567 million in military assistance to the Taiwan region. Spokesperson Wu Qian emphasized that this move violates the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, particularly the August 17 communique.

Wu stated that the U.S. action undermines China-U.S. relations and threatens peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. He cautioned that supporting \"Taiwan independence\" could escalate tensions and lead to self-inflicted harm.

China urges the U.S. to cease its \"two-faced\" approach toward the Taiwan question and stop arming Taiwan, warning that such actions only disturb the bilateral relationship and regional harmony. The spokesperson highlighted that using Taiwan to contain China sends a dangerous signal to separatist forces.

This development reflects the ongoing tensions between China and the U.S. over Taiwan, a region that remains a sensitive and pivotal point in international relations. As both nations navigate their complex relationship, the global community watches closely, recognizing the potential implications for regional and global stability.
