Wang Yi expressed appreciation for the positive signals emanating from the new Japanese Cabinet and Minister Iwaya since their assumption of office. He emphasized the mutual willingness of both nations to stabilize and develop their bilateral relations, highlighting that as close neighbors, mutually beneficial cooperation and common development are in the fundamental interests of both peoples.
Stress was placed on the importance of learning from history and not forgetting the original intentions of both countries. Wang called for the expansion of cooperation, elimination of interference, and the comprehensive promotion of a strategic and mutually beneficial relationship that aligns with the demands of the new era. He underscored China's hope that Japan would adhere to the one-China principle and establish an objective, rational, positive, and friendly perception of China.
Addressing the current chaotic international situation, Wang pointed out the hard-won peace and stability in the region, urging both sides to prevent external forces from stirring up confrontation. He reiterated China's stable and continuous policy towards Japan and called for practical actions to embody the important consensus that the two sides are cooperative partners who do not pose a threat to each other.
In response, Takeshi Iwaya affirmed that the new Japanese Cabinet is committed to vigorously promoting a comprehensive strategic and mutually beneficial relationship with China. Iwaya highlighted the great potential for cooperation in various fields and expressed Japan's willingness to strengthen communication with China at all levels, resolve outstanding issues through consultation, and deliver more benefits to the people of both countries.
