During the third informal meeting of foreign ministers from China, Russia, Pakistan, and Iran, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi presented four key suggestions addressing the ongoing Afghan issue.
Wang Yi acknowledged that Afghanistan has seen a stable transition over the past three years, yet emphasized that the path to reconstruction and long-term stability remains fraught with challenges.
He highlighted the necessity of collaborative security efforts, including enhanced intelligence sharing and expanded law enforcement cooperation, to eliminate violent terrorist groups operating within Afghanistan. Additionally, Wang called for the implementation of comprehensive measures to advance the Tunxi Initiative, aimed at supporting Afghanistan's reconstruction efforts.
Wang stressed the importance of maintaining justice by positioning Afghanistan as a collaborative platform for all parties, rather than a battleground for geopolitical rivalries. He also appealed to the international community to provide constructive guidance focused on addressing Afghanistan's most pressing challenges.
