China and GCC Foreign Ministers Strengthen Ties at UN Summit

In a significant display of international cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the robust development of Sino-GCC relations. He emphasized that the relationship has become a model for building a new type of international relations, reflecting mutual respect and shared interests.

Describing the GCC as the most dynamic regional organization in the Middle East and a strong friend of China, Wang Yi underscored China’s commitment to strengthening communication and coordination with the GCC. He assured that China is ready to support the GCC on issues concerning each other's core interests and is keen to deepen cooperation in key sectors such as economy, trade, energy, investment, and innovation.

The foreign ministers from the GCC countries reciprocated Wang Yi’s enthusiasm, expressing their willingness to implement the consensus reached at the first GCC-China Summit. They agreed to enhance collaboration in various fields including finance, aerospace, artificial intelligence, and climate change, aiming to foster greater development in GCC-China relations.

Both sides also shared their perspectives on the current situation in the Middle East, recognizing the importance of stability and collaborative efforts in the region. This meeting marks a continued momentum in the China-GCC relationship, paving the way for more integrated and strategic partnerships in the years to come.
