Chinese FM Advocates Ethical and Inclusive AI at UN Summit

At a High-Level Meeting on International Cooperation on Capacity-building on Artificial Intelligence held at the UN headquarters in New York, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a compelling message about the future of artificial intelligence (AI).

Wang emphasized that AI should never be used as a tool to maintain hegemony. Instead, he highlighted China's commitment to developing AI technologies that benefit humanity, ensuring they are safe, controllable, and always under human oversight.

Underlining the importance of sustainability, Wang advocated for the development of green and low-carbon AI. He pointed out that such advancements are crucial for promoting economic and social development while minimizing environmental impact.

Recognizing that AI presents both significant opportunities and challenges globally, Wang proposed several key principles for AI governance. These include establishing a comprehensive and balanced framework for global AI governance, fostering an open and inclusive development environment that is fair for all, and upholding multilateralism to ensure equal participation and benefits for every nation.

Wang's remarks reflect China's dedication to responsible AI development and its desire to collaborate internationally to harness AI's potential for the greater good.
