The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called on the United States to end its focus on containing China and reconsider its approach in the Indo-Pacific region. During a recent press briefing, spokesperson Lin Jian criticized the U.S. for using regional alliances as tools to perpetuate its supremacy.
Lin emphasized that initiatives like the Quad are perceived by China as strategies to exclude and contain the nation. He argued that the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy is built on the narrative of a \"China threat,\" aiming to bolster military and security cooperation under the guise of maritime issues.
The spokesperson pointed out that despite the U.S. claims of not targeting China, the recent Quad summit prominently featured China-related topics, undermining trust and cooperation in the region. Lin asserted that genuine regional cooperation should promote peace, stability, and prosperity without targeting any third party.
He further stated that forming exclusive groupings disrupts mutual trust among regional countries and deviates from the collective pursuit of development and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. Lin concluded by urging the U.S. to abandon its strategies that seek to maintain supremacy at the expense of the strategic security interests of other nations in the region.
