China Condemns Israeli Attacks, Supports Lebanese Sovereignty

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib in New York on Monday. During their discussions, Wang Yi reaffirmed China's unwavering support for Lebanon's security and sovereignty.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, strongly condemned the large-scale attacks carried out by Israel on Lebanese territory. He emphasized that such indiscriminate actions against civilians violate fundamental international principles and called for robust condemnation.

Highlighting the recent escalation of violence, Wang expressed deep concern over the explosions caused by pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon. He stressed that continued violence would only worsen the humanitarian crisis, urging the international community to take a firmer stance.

Minister Bou Habib expressed his gratitude for China's steadfast friendship and support. He acknowledged China's crucial role in advocating for justice on the global stage and defending the rights of developing nations.

The Lebanese Foreign Minister noted the severe challenges Lebanon is currently facing, with over 300 fatalities reported due to recent Israeli airstrikes. He underscored the importance of maintaining sovereignty and independence for small nations within the framework of the United Nations.

Wang Yi advocated for a permanent ceasefire and complete troop withdrawal, alongside the effective implementation of a two-state solution, as essential steps toward resolving the ongoing conflict. He called for regional solidarity to amplify support for these measures.

Committed to promoting peace and stability, Wang expressed China's willingness to collaborate with Arab nations and the international community. He also urged the Lebanese government to take necessary measures to protect Chinese citizens residing in Lebanon.

Responding to Wang's concerns, Bou Habib assured that Lebanon will prioritize the safety of Chinese nationals in the country, appreciating China's dedication to justice and support.
