In early September, the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation was held in Beijing, bringing together more than 50 African countries. The summit underscored the mutual pursuit of modernization shared by China and its African partners.
The spotlight during the summit was on the China-proposed Global Development Initiative (GDI), highlighting the collective commitment of all participating parties to advance common development goals.
Originally proposed by China at the General Debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2021, the GDI aims to guide global development toward a stage of balanced, coordinated, and inclusive growth.
The initiative has emerged as a significant public good provided by China to the international community in the new era, embodying the practice of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Over the past three years, the GDI has shifted the international community's focus toward development issues, nurtured high-quality drivers for future growth, and offered Chinese solutions for countries in the Global South to bridge development gaps and create a better world.
