Xi Jinping Calls for Deepening Reforms in Gansu to Propel Chinese Modernization

In a concerted effort to advance Chinese modernization, President Xi Jinping has urged deepening reforms in Gansu Province. During his inspection tour from Tuesday to Friday, Xi emphasized the importance of innovation, ecological conservation, and improving the well-being of Gansu's residents.

Xi highlighted the need for Gansu to take solid steps in ecological conservation and restoration, accelerating the green and low-carbon transition. He stressed the importance of further deepening comprehensive reforms and opening up, promoting rural revitalization, securing livelihoods, and strengthening ethnic unity.

On Tuesday afternoon, Xi visited the Fuxi Temple in Tianshui City, dedicated to the mythical ancestor of the Chinese nation. He underscored the necessity of protecting and passing on cultural heritage to inspire future generations and enhance national pride.

Continuing his tour, Xi inspected a local water diversion project on Wednesday morning, advocating for better maintenance and management to improve the lives of local residents. Later, at a Huaniu apple production base, he emphasized optimizing cultivation and innovating marketing models to expand the specialty industry and increase incomes.

Xi also toured the Maijishan Grottoes, meticulously inspecting the 1,600-year-old caves, sculptures, and paintings. He called on cultural relic workers to contribute to preserving and innovatively developing China's traditional culture.

In the provincial capital, Lanzhou, Xi focused on the practical needs of residents, particularly the elderly and children, advocating for continuous improvement of community services. He praised local authorities for their efforts in elderly care, healthcare, and community services, urging them to build on their progress.

Addressing local residents, Xi highlighted the significance of the upcoming 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, calling for unity and greater efforts to achieve more significant accomplishments. He also extended holiday greetings ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Xi inspected a section of the Yellow River near Zhongshan Bridge, emphasizing the importance of protecting the "mother river" through joint efforts to ensure its benefits for future generations.

On Friday, Xi listened to the work report from the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee and the provincial government, advocating for new-type industrialization, transformation of traditional industries, and building a robust national manufacturing base for new energy. He stressed the need to deepen reforms, expand opening up, and effectively implement a people-centered urbanization strategy.

Xi also called for strengthening cultural heritage protection by building the Dunhuang Academy into a global center for Dunhuang studies and promoting national cultural parks dedicated to iconic sites like the Great Wall, the Long March, and the Yellow River. He emphasized the importance of social advancement and governance to lay a solid foundation for common prosperity across all ethnic groups.

Before arriving in Gansu, Xi visited the Baoji Bronze Ware Museum in Shaanxi Province, celebrating China's bronze civilization and advocating for better protection, research, and promotion of bronze cultural relics. He also inspected a local riverside ecological park.

Accompanying Xi on his inspection tour was Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee. On Thursday morning, Xi met with senior officers and representatives of soldiers and civilian staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army troops stationed in Lanzhou.
