Xi Jinping Visits Lanzhou to Boost Yellow River Conservation and Public Services

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conducted an inspection in Lanzhou, the capital of northwest China's Gansu Province, on Wednesday afternoon. During his visit, Xi explored a local community and a segment of the Yellow River, gaining insights into the city's initiatives aimed at improving public services, enhancing residents' well-being, strengthening public order maintenance, and promoting ecological conservation within the Yellow River basin.

Lanzhou, strategically situated along the banks of the Yellow River in its upper reaches, serves as a vital hub for regional development. While inspecting a section of the Yellow River near the Zhongshan Bridge, Xi emphasized the importance of continuous efforts to advance ecological conservation and foster high-quality development in the basin. He urged that each year should witness progress in implementing policies dedicated to these goals.

\"Protection is a precondition of development, and lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,\" Xi stated, affirming his confidence in the future beauty of the Yellow River.

In addition to environmental initiatives, Xi was briefed on the local authorities' efforts to promote public services. He engaged with residents and tourists enjoying leisure time along the riverbanks, highlighting the significance of prioritizing elderly care and childcare. Addressing community workers and residents, Xi underscored that community work is fundamental to urban governance and should focus on providing quality services that truly benefit the public.
