Chinese Premier Li Qiang Embarks on Saudi Visit to Strengthen Global Ties

Chinese Premier Li Qiang touched down in Riyadh on Tuesday, marking the commencement of his four-day tour to the Middle East. Leading the Fourth Meeting of the High-Level Chinese-Saudi Joint Committee, Li aims to elevate the bilateral relations between China and Saudi Arabia to new heights.

Highlighting the enduring friendship between the two nations, Li emphasized that since establishing diplomatic relations 34 years ago, China and Saudi Arabia have witnessed significant advancements through collaborative efforts. This partnership has yielded substantial results across various sectors, reinforcing practical cooperation and mutual growth.

Reflecting on recent developments, Li referenced Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit in December 2022, where key summits like the China-Arab States Summit and the China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit laid the groundwork for enhanced cooperation. Over the past year, both countries have diligently implemented the summits' outcomes, fostering political trust and expanding collaboration in multiple fields.

During his stay, Premier Li is scheduled to engage in comprehensive discussions with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. Their conversations will focus on bolstering bilateral relations and addressing shared global concerns, aiming to deepen friendship and broaden cooperative initiatives.

Li expressed optimism that his visit will catalyze further mutually beneficial projects, strengthen people-to-people connections, and contribute to the advancement of China-GCC and China-Arab relations. Following his time in Saudi Arabia, Premier Li will proceed to the United Arab Emirates, continuing his mission to enhance China's global partnerships.
