China's top legislature, the National People's Congress (NPC), commenced its 11th session on Tuesday, chaired by Zhao Leji. The session focuses on reviewing several significant bills aimed at enhancing national defense education, modernizing statistical methods, and promoting a green energy transition.

Key among the bills discussed are revisions to the National Defense Education Law, incorporating military service education into campus curricula, and a draft amendment to the Statistics Law to integrate modern information technologies. The NPC also deliberated on laws addressing infectious disease control, anti-money laundering measures, public health emergencies, and the promotion of childcare and elderly care services.

Additionally, the legislature reviewed reports on national economic and social development, highlighting continuous growth and high-quality development. Budget execution remains stable, and government debt management has been scrutinized for the first time since the establishment of the reporting system.

As the session progresses, lawmakers are set to confer national medals for the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, consider raising the statutory retirement age, and discuss several international treaties, reinforcing China's commitment to comprehensive national development and governance.
