In a significant move at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing, China and Libya announced the establishment of a strategic partnership.

President Xi emphasized China's unwavering support for Libya’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He underscored China's commitment to aiding Libya's economic reconstruction and improving the livelihoods of its people, regardless of evolving circumstances.

President Menfi highlighted the historic opportunity presented by the FOCAC Summit to deepen relations between Libya and China, as well as between Africa and China. He stressed the importance of economic and trade cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, welcoming Chinese businesses to participate in Libya's reconstruction efforts and ensuring a favorable environment for their investments.

China expressed its willingness to collaborate with Libya in strengthening dialogues and cooperation with other African and Arab nations, engaging closely with the United Nations and other multilateral organizations. This partnership aims to consolidate solidarity among Global South countries, safeguard the common interests of developing nations, and uphold international justice.

Libya reaffirmed its firm adherence to the one-China principle, ensuring that this stance remains unchanged under any circumstances.
