President Xi Promotes Expanded China-Togo Cooperation at FOCAC Summit

In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping announced the expansion of practical cooperation with Togo during the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Premier Xi emphasized China’s commitment to enhancing political mutual trust and expanding collaboration in key areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, water conservancy, and connectivity. This initiative aims to deepen multilateral collaboration and promote regional solidarity and stability.

The meeting between Premier Xi and Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe culminated in the elevation of China-Togo relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Xi praised Gnassingbe's long-term contributions to fostering China-Togo relations and developing the FOCAC mechanism, underscoring China’s firm support for Africa’s integration process.

Looking ahead, Premier Xi highlighted that the 2024 FOCAC summit will chart a new course for China-Africa cooperation, marking a milestone in their enduring relationship. He assured that China is dedicated to working closely with Togo to ensure the summit's success.

President Gnassingbe echoed these sentiments, acknowledging China’s crucial support for Africa’s security and development amidst global challenges.
