In his meeting with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, Xi highlighted China's appreciation for Eritrea's pursuit of an independent foreign policy and its commitment to national sovereignty and dignity. President Afwerki acknowledged the deep historical ties and strong friendship between Eritrea and China. Afwerki noted that such collaboration would aid African countries in their development and in resisting colonialism and hegemony.
