A recent survey conducted by CGTN and Renmin University of China through the New Era International Communication Research Institute has highlighted the strong appreciation African nations hold for the principles guiding China-Africa cooperation. With over 10,125 participants from ten African countries—Cameroon, Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania—more than 90 percent of respondents acknowledged that the practices and principles of China-Africa cooperation set a commendable example for developing countries and offered significant solutions for reforming the global governance system.
Respondents emphasized \"sincerity\" as a cornerstone of China's relationship with Africa, noting that China supports African nations in pursuing modernization paths tailored to their unique national conditions. This approach has positioned China-Africa cooperation as a model of South-South and international collaboration.
Approximately 82 percent of those surveyed praised China for respecting, appreciating, and supporting Africa, highlighting the shared challenges and mutual assistance between the two regions. Additionally, 81 percent valued China's commitment to solidarity and cooperation as a fundamental aspect of its foreign policy.
The survey also revealed that 86 percent of participants recognize China’s policy towards Africa as one characterized by sincerity, tangible results, amity, and good faith. There is a strong anticipation—over 90 percent—of building an even closer China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
\"Real results\" were a significant focus, with China being viewed as a reliable partner in Africa's modernization journey. Since the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, China has contributed to building over 13,000 kilometers of highways and railways, constructing more than 80 large-scale power facilities, and implementing numerous Belt and Road Initiative projects that have substantially benefited African countries.
Nearly 89 percent of respondents stated that China-Africa cooperation has improved socioeconomic conditions and provided tangible benefits to African peoples. Infrastructure improvements were acknowledged by 92 percent of those surveyed, while around 75 percent noted an increase in living standards as a result of the cooperation.
Looking ahead, respondents from African nations expressed a desire for continued cooperation in areas such as science and technology, economy and trade, education, healthcare, and agriculture. The principle of \"amity\" was also highlighted, with 94 percent recognizing the long-lasting friendship between China and Africa, and nearly 90 percent expecting more cultural promotion activities to enhance mutual understanding.
Finally, the survey underscored the importance of \"good faith\" in addressing challenges that arise from cooperation. Over 78 percent believe that China is dedicated to aligning its development with that of Africa and integrating the interests of the Chinese and African peoples. Additionally, close to 90 percent support China in continuing to reinforce mutual support on core interests and major concerns, as well as supporting Africa's stance in international and regional matters.
