Xi Jinping Pushes for Bold Reforms to Drive China’s Modernization

In a decisive move to advance Chinese modernization, President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for all-out efforts to implement the country’s comprehensive reform tasks during the sixth meeting of the Central Commission for Deepening Overall Reform.

Leading the meeting, Xi highlighted the solid foundation and favorable conditions that support further deepening of reforms. He encouraged leveraging existing achievements and experiences to propel forward.

\"We must free our minds, seek truth from facts, move with the times, and take a realistic and pragmatic approach,\" Xi stated, underscoring the importance of a balanced and informed strategy in executing reform measures.

The session, attended by key members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, reviewed and adopted a strategic plan for various central Party and state departments. This plan includes over 300 reform measures across sectors such as the economy, culture, and ecology, aiming to enhance China's global standing and internal development.

Highlighting the success of the 22 pilot free trade zones established since 2012, Xi stressed the pursuit of high-standard opening up and institutional innovations. The focus will remain on facilitating trade, investment, and capital flows while ensuring secure and orderly data management.

The meeting also emphasized the necessity of maintaining the CPC Central Committee's unified leadership over the reform process, ensuring that reforms proceed in a controlled and effective manner. This includes accelerating the implementation of landmark reforms, aligning policy orientations, and assessing the broader impact on economic and social development.

By enhancing investigation and research on major reform tasks and strengthening supervision and evaluation mechanisms, the Commission aims to ensure that the reform agenda not only progresses swiftly but also sustainably.

President Xi’s directives reflect a strategic push towards comprehensive reform, positioning China to navigate the complexities of modern global economics and governance effectively.
