China and Japan’s Top Legislators Pave Way for Stronger Bilateral Ties

In a significant move towards strengthening regional relations, China's top legislator, Zhao Leji, engaged in productive talks with Toshihiro Nikai, chairman of the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union, in Beijing on Wednesday.

Zhao, who serves as the chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, highlighted the importance of the four political documents between China and Japan, describing them as the political and legal foundation for their bilateral relations. He emphasized that peace, friendship, and cooperation are the only viable paths forward for both nations.

Expressing China's commitment, Zhao stated that the country is eager to collaborate with Japan to build mutual trust, deepen cooperation, effectively manage differences, and ensure that bilateral relations continue on a path of sound and steady development.

The legislator pointed out the deep interconnection between the economic interests and industrial chains of China and Japan, underscoring the necessity for both sides to enhance collaboration and contribute to each other's success. Zhao also mentioned that the NPC of China is open to various forms of exchanges and cooperation with Japan's House of Representatives and the House of Councillors.

Inviting Japanese counterparts, Zhao extended a warm welcome to parliamentarians and other Japanese friends, encouraging them to visit China and experience its true, multi-dimensional, and panoramic landscape.

Echoing the sentiment, Toshihiro Nikai stated that friendships among people are fundamental to boosting relations between countries. He affirmed that the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union is dedicated to contributing to the sound and stable development of Japan-China relations.
