The Chinese Embassy in Tehran marked the 53rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Iran with a significant ceremony on Thursday.
Attending the event were Chinese Ambassador to Tehran, Cong Peiwu, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the Iran-China Friendship Association and a senior Iranian lawmaker, alongside other association members.
Diplomatic relations between China and Iran were officially established on August 16, 1971. In his address, Ambassador Cong highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations, tracing back over 2,000 years. He emphasized that since formalizing diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have seen remarkable progress and sustained robust development momentum.
Ambassador Cong noted that mutual political trust has deepened, practical cooperation has achieved new milestones, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges have flourished. He expressed satisfaction with the expansion of bilateral relations, pointing out that China has been Iran's largest trade partner for several consecutive years.
Chairman Boroujerdi lauded the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Iran, underscoring Iran's commitment to enhancing bilateral ties under its new administration. He also expressed optimism about Iran's role in China's Belt and Road Initiative, anticipating significant practical advancements in the near future.
