China and Fiji Forge Stronger Ties with New Strategic Partnership

The People's Republic of China and the Republic of Fiji have unveiled a joint statement on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in their comprehensive strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to foster practical cooperation and solidify shared commitments between the two nations.

Central to the agreement is the recognition that all countries, irrespective of their size, strength, or wealth, are equals. Both parties emphasized the importance of respecting each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, allowing nations to independently choose development paths tailored to their unique national conditions. Additionally, the principle of non-interference in internal affairs was upheld, reinforcing mutual respect and understanding.

Looking ahead, China and Fiji plan to enhance interactions across all levels and various sectors. This includes expanding exchanges between their respective legislatures, government agencies, municipalities, and localities. By sharing experiences in governance and development, the two countries aim to deepen political mutual trust and cooperation.

Beyond governance, the partnership will see increased collaboration in areas such as tourism, education, health, agriculture, marine resource development, capacity building, sports, and cultural promotion. These initiatives are designed to create a more interconnected and prosperous future for both nations.

Both China and Fiji are committed to contributing to the implementation of the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent, working alongside all relevant parties. Furthermore, they reaffirm their dedication to maintaining the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons serving as the cornerstone, alongside the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Treaty.

This joint statement underscores the evolving relationship between China and Fiji, highlighting a mutual dedication to fostering sustainable development, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and promoting regional stability.
