In a significant move towards deepening bilateral relations, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and China's top legislator, met with Vietnam's president and general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, To Lam, in Beijing on Monday.
Zhao emphasized China's commitment to collaborating with Vietnam to uphold the strategic consensus established by the leaders of both nations. He highlighted the ambition to advance the construction of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, aiming to mutually support each other's socialist modernization efforts.
The Chinese NPC expressed readiness to work alongside Vietnam's National Assembly to implement bilateral cooperation agreements. They plan to leverage the counterpart exchange mechanism, enhance multi-channel cooperation, and strengthen legislative and supervisory experience exchanges. These initiatives are intended to provide a robust legal framework for the envisioned China-Vietnam community.
On his part, To Lam reiterated Vietnam's strategic prioritization of relations with China. He affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to deepen practical cooperation across various sectors, maintain close exchanges between legislative bodies, and further the development of the strategically significant community with a shared future.
This high-level meeting underscores the progressive steps both nations are taking to foster a closer partnership, reflecting their shared goals for economic growth, legislative collaboration, and mutual development.
