Russian Ambassador Accuses US of ‘Legitimizing Terrorism’ Over Nord Stream Silence

In a strong rebuke to the United States, Russian Ambassador to the U.S., Anatoly Antonov, accused Washington of \"implicitly legitimizing terrorism\" by remaining silent on the devastating bombings of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.

Antonov criticized the U.S. for overlooking statements made by its leaders that highlighted the \"importance of destroying the pipelines.\" He asserted that the U.S. aims to shift the blame onto Ukrainian forces, despite acknowledging that Kyiv would not act without approval from Washington.

The ambassador pointed out that the U.S.'s refusal to comment on the matter is \"quite telling,\" suggesting that America prefers to remain as \"outside observers\" rather than addressing the truth behind the attacks that occurred nearly two years ago.

\"America is giving carte blanche for similar crimes in the future,\" Antonov added, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability regarding the Nord Stream incident.

These remarks come in the wake of Germany issuing an early arrest warrant for a Ukrainian suspect believed to be involved in the bombing of the natural gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea.

The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which Russia used to transport natural gas from Siberia to Germany, were severely damaged in explosions in September 2022 within Swedish and Danish territorial waters.
