Vietnam’s President To Lam Embarks on Strategic State Visit to China

Vietnam's top leader, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam, is set to visit the Chinese mainland from August 18 to 20. The state visit comes at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

During his visit, President To Lam will engage in talks with President Xi Jinping, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and fostering a shared future between the two nations. Additionally, senior Chinese officials, including Premier Li Qiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji, and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, will hold separate meetings with him.

This visit builds on the outcomes of President Xi's historic trip to Vietnam last year, where both countries began intensively working to implement agreed-upon initiatives. The Chinese Foreign Ministry highlighted that efforts to build the China-Vietnam community with a shared future are progressing well, marking a significant step in their strategic partnership.

Significantly, China is the first country President To Lam will visit after assuming office, underscoring the importance he places on Sino-Vietnamese relations. The visit aims to continue the tradition of friendship, deepen strategic cooperation, and collaborate on paths towards modernization with distinctive characteristics. Both nations seek to jointly advance the global socialist cause and contribute to regional and global peace, stability, and development.
