China Flags Taiwan Issue as Non-Negotiable in Japan Relations

In a recent press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that the Taiwan question is a core interest of China and a red line that Japan cannot cross. Lin reiterated that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory, aligning with the one-China principle.

Lin expressed strong opposition to any official interactions between countries that maintain diplomatic relations with China and Taiwan. He noted that China has lodged a stern protest with Japan regarding this matter.

The spokesperson highlighted Japan's historical role in Taiwan, referencing the period when Japan ruled Taiwan as a colony for half a century. Lin called on certain Japanese politicians to acknowledge historical lessons, recognize the one-China principle, and cease sending support to Taiwan independence separatist forces.

Lin also criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in Taiwan for their steadfast support of Taiwan independence and collaboration with external forces. He asserted that such efforts are destined to fail.
