Libyan PM Vows Unity Amid Ongoing Military Conflicts

In a strong stance against ongoing instability, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah declared his government’s opposition to any attempts to renew military violations and deepen divisions within the country. Speaking at a graduation ceremony for military college students in Tripoli, Dbeibah emphasized the importance of national unity as a non-negotiable boundary.

\"We affirm that the unity of Libya is a red line,\" Dbeibah stated, highlighting his commitment to building a robust army grounded in faith and national identity rather than individual or external influences. He encouraged the new graduates to emulate the army's founding leaders, aiming to thwart both external threats and internal ambitions that could lead to tyranny.

Libya has grappled with political fragmentation since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, with competing governments and foreign interventions exacerbating the turmoil. The current tension underscores the fragility of Libya’s political landscape.

Recent violent clashes in Tripoli’s eastern districts have resulted in at least nine deaths and sixteen injuries, displacing dozens of families. The UN Support Mission in Libya condemned these confrontations, urging the consolidation of military and security forces and the establishment of accountable institutions to pave the way for lasting peace.

As Libya navigates its path towards stability, the commitment of leaders like PM Dbeibah to unity and strong, principled institutions remains crucial for the nation’s future.
