Kim Jong Un, the top leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), recently oversaw the delivery of 250 new tactical ballistic missile launchers to frontier troops, state media KCNA reported on Monday.
These launchers are touted as modern tactical attack weapons, personally designed by Kim Jong Un, and are set to be deployed to Korean People's Army units situated near the border with the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Last month, Pyongyang conducted a test-fire of a new tactical ballistic missile, raising international concerns.
Seoul has interpreted this move as an attempt to \"threaten\" the ROK. Lee Sung-joon, spokesperson for the ROK's Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that the missile launchers could be used in various ways, including attacks or threats against the South. He also noted that deploying them near the border limits their range.
In a related event, Kim Jong Un's daughter, Kim Ju Ae, made her first public appearance in nearly three months by attending the missile launcher delivery ceremony, as evidenced by KCNA photos.
