In a significant move towards promoting peace in the Middle East, Zhai Jun, special envoy of the Chinese government on the Middle East issue, engaged in a constructive phone call with Wolfgang Amadeus Brulhart, the Swiss envoy to the region, on Monday.
Highlighting the reconciliation dialogue among 14 Palestinian factions held in Beijing last July, Zhai emphasized China’s sincere hopes for national unity among the Palestinian factions. Echoing these sentiments, Brulhart congratulated China on its role in mediating the reconciliation dialogue and the subsequent signing of the Beijing Declaration. He affirmed that Switzerland shares China’s position on the importance of Palestinian unity.
Brulhart underscored that a unified stance among Palestinian factions is crucial for the realization of the two-state solution and the resolution of the Palestinian issue. He called for sustained communication between Switzerland and China to continue making positive strides in this direction.
