The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday accused the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) nations of escalating tensions in the Asia-Pacific region. Spokesperson Lin Jian stated that the United States, Japan, Australia, and India, under the guise of building a \\"free and open Indo-Pacific\\", are actually creating antagonism and hindering the development of other countries.
Lin emphasized that such actions run counter to the regional pursuit of peace, development, cooperation, and prosperity. He asserted that cooperation among nations should foster stability and growth, rather than forming exclusive clubs that undermine regional trust.
The remarks came following expressions of concern from Quad foreign ministers over the situation in the East and South China Seas. China reaffirmed its commitment to territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, advocating for bilateral dialogues to resolve disputes.
Lin also criticized countries outside the region for deploying military aircraft and vessels in the South China Sea, viewing these moves as attempts to create division and confrontation. He called on these nations to respect regional efforts for peace and stability, urging them to cease actions that fuel tensions.
