Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni led the opening ceremony of the seventh China-Italy Entrepreneurs Committee meeting in Beijing on Sunday. The summit focused on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
Premier Li highlighted the committee's positive impact over the past decade in promoting bilateral relations and economic collaboration. He emphasized the need for strengthened cooperation amid a sluggish global economic recovery, aiming to inject new momentum into both countries' development.
Li urged both nations to embrace the Silk Road spirit of peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and mutual benefit. He called for adherence to the principle of mutual benefit, supporting each other's growth, and working together towards common prosperity.
The premier also pointed out that the deepening China-Italy strategic partnership would create stable expectations for economic and trade cooperation, unveiling broader opportunities for both sides. He highlighted China's commitment to high-quality development and the ongoing reforms aimed at promoting modernization, which would not only boost China's economy but also optimize and upgrade economic structures, unlocking vast development potential and expanding cooperation opportunities.
Premier Li encouraged enterprises from both countries to explore new cooperation avenues in smart manufacturing, new energy, biomedicine, and other fields. He assured that China would continue to open its doors wider to Italian and other foreign companies by creating a transparent, stable, and predictable institutional environment, relaxing market access, and guaranteeing national treatment for foreign businesses.
Italian Prime Minister Meloni echoed these sentiments, expressing Italy's commitment to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with China. She emphasized the importance of leveraging complementary advantages and expanding practical cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and artificial intelligence. Meloni highlighted Italy's willingness to innovate cooperation models, enhance enterprise competitiveness, and jointly address global challenges, hoping that the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries would yield significant results and invigorate bilateral relations.
The event saw participation from over 150 entrepreneurs from China and Italy, signaling strong support for enhanced collaboration and mutual growth.
