The China Coast Guard (CCG) recently monitored a Philippine resupply mission to a warship grounded in Ren'ai Jiao, part of China's Nansha Qundao in the South China Sea. According to a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the resupply mission was based on a provisional arrangement reached between China and the Philippines.
\"This morning, based on the provisional arrangement China reached with the Philippines on managing the situation at Ren'ai Jiao, the Philippine side conducted a resupply mission of living necessities,\" the spokesperson stated on Saturday afternoon.
The spokesperson further explained, \"The entire process was monitored by the China Coast Guard. China had been notified of the resupply before it was carried out. After confirming on-site that the Philippine vessel carried only humanitarian living necessities, the Chinese side allowed the Philippine vessel to proceed.\"
Emphasizing China's stance, the spokesperson said, \"Let me stress that the arrangement was reached by China with the Philippines based on the three-point principled position of China on managing the situation at Ren'ai Jiao.\"
On July 22, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that China and the Philippines had reached a provisional arrangement on the humanitarian resupply of living necessities following consultations on managing the situation at Ren'ai Jiao.
The spokesperson reiterated that China's position on Ren'ai Jiao remains unchanged, asserting sovereignty over Ren'ai Jiao, the rest of Nansha Qundao, and their adjacent waters. China remains committed to resolving territorial issues and maritime disputes with the Philippines through dialogue and consultation.
