China’s UN Envoy Advocates for Political Resolution in Yemen Crisis

In a recent Security Council briefing, Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, emphasized the urgent need for a political and diplomatic solution to the ongoing Yemen crisis. Highlighting the complexities of the situation, Fu called on all parties involved to remain committed to a peaceful resolution.

\"The settlement of the Yemeni question requires political and diplomatic means,\" Fu stated, urging stakeholders to build consensus and engage in constructive dialogue. He advocated for a Yemeni-led and Yemeni-owned comprehensive political process, stressing the importance of meeting halfway to resolve existing tensions and differences.

Fu also addressed the international community, urging them to provide necessary assistance and play a proactive role in facilitating peace efforts. He underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in achieving a sustainable solution.

Additionally, Fu raised concerns about the escalating tensions in the Red Sea, calling on the Houthis to respect international maritime laws. He urged the cessation of attacks on commercial vessels to ensure safe navigation and stability in the region.
