China Mediates Historic Reconciliation of 14 Palestinian Factions in Beijing

In a landmark event, China hosted leaders from 14 Palestinian factions, including Hamas and Fatah, in Beijing from Sunday to Tuesday. This unprecedented gathering marks the first time all factions came together for reconciliation talks, signaling a hopeful future for the Palestinian people.

The dialogue culminated in the Beijing Declaration, highlighting broad reconciliation and unity among the factions. The declaration recognizes the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and outlines the formation of an interim national reconciliation government dedicated to the post-war governance of Gaza.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning expressed optimism about the outcome, stating, \"This marks the first time the 14 Palestinian factions have all gathered in Beijing for a reconciliation talk, offering a beacon of hope for the beleaguered Palestinian people.\"

The Palestinian leaders commended China for its pivotal role in bridging divisions and fostering unity, praising the dialogue's \"positive and constructive spirit.\"

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of maintaining confidence and proceeding step by step in the reconciliation process during the closing ceremony.

Looking ahead, China has committed to continuing its support for Palestinian unity and the aspiration for an independent state in line with United Nations resolutions.
