In a firm stance, the Chinese mainland has issued a warning to any country, organization, or individual contemplating actions that violate its red line concerning Taiwan. A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that crossing this boundary would come with significant consequences.
During a press briefing on Monday, spokesperson Lin Jian responded to inquiries about China's recent decision to implement countermeasures against U.S. military contractors and senior executives involved in arms sales to the Taiwan region. Lin highlighted that these arms sales breach the one-China principle and the agreements outlined in the three China-U.S. joint communiques, particularly the August 17 Communique of 1982.
These actions, according to Lin, undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. As a result, the Chinese mainland has taken legal measures against the primary contractors and executives involved in the recent U.S. arms sales to Taiwan. Additionally, military-industrial enterprises that have participated in arms sales or attended the \"U.S.-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference\" in recent years are also targeted by these countermeasures.
Lin stressed that the Taiwan question remains at the core of China's essential interests and is the most critical red line in China-U.S. relations. He concluded by stating, \"No one should underestimate the strong determination, will, and ability of the Chinese government and people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity, or imagine that they can step on or even cross the line on the Taiwan question without paying a price.\"
