The Chinese Ministry of National Defense has called on the Philippines to immediately withdraw its personnel and ships that are illegally stationed at Xianbin Jiao, part of China's Nansha Qundao, in the South China Sea.
Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the Philippines' actions have heightened tensions in the region and undermined peace and stability. In response, Chinese Coast Guard vessels have implemented tracking, monitoring, and control measures against the Philippines' transfer of personnel and supplies to its Coast Guard ships at Xianbin Jiao.
The ministry emphasized that the Philippines' actions violate China's sovereignty and breach Article 5 of the Declaration on the Conduct of the Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), which urges all parties to refrain from inhabiting uninhabited islands and reefs in the region.
China asserts its indisputable sovereignty over Nansha Qundao, including Xianbin Jiao, and maintains that its law enforcement operations are both legitimate and justified.
