China Pushes Back Against Germany’s 5G Ban on Chinese Telecom Components

The Chinese Embassy in Germany has voiced strong opposition to the recent decision by Germany's Federal Ministry of the Interior to remove Chinese telecom components from its 5G networks. Citing alleged security risks, Germany aims to gradually phase out equipment from Chinese companies, including Huawei and ZTE.

In response, the Chinese embassy stated that the move is based on groundless accusations. It emphasized that Chinese companies have operated in Germany in full compliance with local laws and have significantly contributed to Germany's digital transformation.

The embassy further argued that the so-called \"network security risks\" are merely excuses used by certain countries to maintain technological dominance and suppress competitors. According to the statement, there is no evidence to suggest that these Chinese companies pose any threat.

Highlighting China’s openness, the embassy pointed out that European companies like Nokia and Ericsson are welcome participants in China’s own 5G infrastructure projects. The Chinese side warned that Germany's decision could severely damage mutual trust and hinder future cooperation between China and the EU in related fields.

The embassy concluded by stating that Germany should ensure fair and just handling of the issue, criticizing what it sees as discriminatory policies against Chinese companies based on unfounded accusations. China has vowed to take necessary measures to protect the legitimate interests of its companies.
