Chinese Mainland Urges NATO to Drop Cold War Mentality and Baseless Accusations

The Chinese mainland has called on NATO to abandon its Cold War mentality and cease making unfounded accusations, according to a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

During a regular press briefing on Tuesday, spokesperson Lin Jian responded to a question regarding statements made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Lin emphasized that the Chinese mainland firmly opposes NATO using it as a pretext to expand eastward into the Asia-Pacific region, which could destabilize the area.

Lin criticized NATO as a remnant of the Cold War era, describing it as the world's largest military alliance that claims to be a regional defensive organization. However, he accused NATO of continuously expanding its influence, provoking confrontations, and engaging in bullying practices. Lin warned that NATO's approach to security often comes at the expense of others, creating significant global and regional security risks.

The spokesperson highlighted the Chinese mainland's role as a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order. He noted that the Chinese mainland's objective and fair stance, along with its constructive efforts in addressing international and regional issues such as the Ukraine crisis, has been recognized by the international community.

Lin Jian urged NATO to correct its misguided perception of the Chinese mainland, abandon its zero-sum game approach, and stop fostering \"security anxiety\" and fabricating imaginary enemies. He called for NATO to cease forming closed and exclusive \"small circles\" under the guise of \"common defense.\" Instead, Lin advocated for practical steps to promote world peace, stability, and development.
