Chinese President Xi Jinping and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban engaged in a comprehensive dialogue about the ongoing Ukraine crisis during their meeting in Beijing on Monday.
Prime Minister Orban provided President Xi with updates on his recent visits to Ukraine and Russia, seeking to find a political resolution to the conflict. President Xi praised Orban's efforts, emphasizing the importance of an early ceasefire and a political settlement for the benefit of all parties involved.
President Xi outlined China's priority to de-escalate the situation by adhering to three key principles: preventing the expansion of the battlefield, avoiding escalation of fighting, and discouraging any party from exacerbating tensions.
He urged the international community to create conducive conditions and offer support for the resumption of direct dialogue and negotiations between the conflicting parties. \"Only when all major countries play a positive rather than negative role can there emerge an early prospect of a ceasefire,\" Xi stated.
Highlighting China's active role in promoting peace talks, President Xi noted that China and Hungary share similar foundational views and are working collaboratively towards the same goals. He assured that China will maintain communication with Hungary and other relevant parties to continue these efforts.
