In a significant move to bolster international relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in Astana, Kazakhstan on Thursday.
Xi emphasized that the relationship between China and Türkiye has maintained a stable development momentum. As large developing nations and members of the Global South, the two countries share a broad consensus in pursuing national development and revitalization while upholding principles of international relations.
Both leaders underscored the importance of mutual support in safeguarding core interests, strengthening political trust, and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation. Xi highlighted China’s support for Türkiye's tailored development path, encouraging both sides to expand trade and for Chinese enterprises to increase investments in Türkiye.
Additionally, China is advancing cooperation in infrastructure projects and promoting tourism by encouraging more Chinese citizens to visit Türkiye. Xi also noted that China and Türkiye share similar views on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Ukraine crisis, advocating for close communication on these global issues.
China expressed its willingness to enhance coordination and cooperation with Türkiye within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and the G20, signaling a commitment to a deeper strategic partnership.
