On Thursday, the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member nations emphasized the need to build a multipolar world to effectively address urgent global security threats and challenges.
In their statement, the leaders highlighted that current security risks are global in nature and can only be mitigated through the establishment of a multipolar world, improvement of global economic governance, and coordinated efforts to tackle both conventional and unconventional security threats.
The SCO leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the UN Charter and international law, supporting the maintenance of world peace and security while fostering good-neighborly and friendly relations among nations.
They emphasized that all SCO member states, regardless of their political, economic, or social systems, population size, geographical location, or level of economic development, have equal rights in decision-making processes within the organization.
The leaders pledged to resolve any differences peacefully, stating that bilateral disputes would not be addressed within the SCO framework. They also reaffirmed their adherence to non-alignment, inclusiveness, and the principle of not targeting other countries or regions.
Looking ahead, member states committed to strengthening institutional consultations on international and regional issues, taking coordinated actions, and providing mutual support and close cooperation on major international and regional affairs.
