The upcoming 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is set to enhance consensus and deepen cooperation among member parties, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning.
Scheduled from July 2 to 6 in Astana, Kazakhstan, the summit will see Chinese leader Xi Jinping engage with leaders from participating countries to discuss the future development of the SCO and address major international and regional issues.
Mao highlighted that this summit is the most significant event under the SCO framework this year, emphasizing China's commitment to promoting a closer SCO community with a shared future. Following the summit, China will assume the rotating presidency of the organization for 2024 and 2025.
China expressed its readiness to collaborate with all member parties to deepen cooperation in areas such as politics, security, economy, trade, and people-to-people exchanges. The goal is to bring more benefits to regional populations and contribute to lasting global peace and common prosperity.
