Hong Kong Marks 27th Anniversary of Return to Motherland with Grand Celebrations

Hong Kong celebrated the 27th anniversary of its return to the motherland with a vibrant launching ceremony held at Victoria Park on Saturday. This milestone also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, adding extra significance to the celebrations.

John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), highlighted the importance of this year, emphasizing the successful implementation of the \"One Country, Two Systems\" framework. He praised the collective efforts of the HKSAR government, various sectors of society, and the residents who have contributed to Hong Kong's continuous growth and resilience.

Zheng Yanxiong, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, spoke about the strong support from the country, which has enabled Hong Kong to integrate seamlessly into national development. He outlined plans to enhance Hong Kong's international competitiveness, maintain a free and open business environment, and leverage its unique advantages.

Tam Kam-kau, Chairman of the Hong Kong Celebrations Association, reflected on Hong Kong's prosperity and stability since its return. He commended the steady progress of the \"One Country, Two Systems\" initiative, noting its universal recognition and success.

The celebrations will continue with a series of exhibitions and performances from June 29 to July 2 at Victoria Park. These events will showcase China's rich traditional culture and innovative developments, with provincial-level regions such as Sichuan, Liaoning, Jiangxi, Shandong, Shaanxi, and Ningxia setting up booths to display their local culture and promote tourism.
