Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of expanding trade and deepening cooperation between China and Peru during his talks with Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra in Beijing on Friday.

Li highlighted that China values its relationship with Peru and expressed China's willingness to enhance their traditional friendship. He spoke about elevating the China-Peru comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level, aiming to bring more benefits to the peoples of both nations.

The Premier stressed the importance of strengthening exchanges and dialogues at all levels, ensuring mutual understanding and support on core interests and major concerns. Li called for synergizing development strategies, expanding trade, and deepening cooperation in traditional sectors like mining, electricity, ports, and infrastructure, all under the guidance of high-quality Belt and Road initiatives.

Moreover, Li underscored the potential for collaboration in emerging fields such as new energy, communications, digital economy, digital healthcare, and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the need to ensure the steady implementation of major projects and to continue nurturing people-to-people and cultural ties to promote friendship between the two countries.

Supporting Peru's role in hosting this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, China is committed to strengthening communication and coordination with Peru within multilateral mechanisms like the UN and APEC. This collaboration aims to contribute positively to global peace and development, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

President Boluarte lauded the friendship between the two nations, noting that Chinese investments and cooperation have significantly advanced Peru's economic and social development. She expressed Peru's active participation in Belt and Road initiatives, welcoming more Chinese enterprises to invest in Peru. Boluarte also reaffirmed Peru's commitment to providing a favorable environment for expanded practical cooperation in infrastructure, new energy, green development, education, and other sectors.

Reaffirming Peru's adherence to the one-China principle, Boluarte stated that Peru supports China's Global Security Initiative and is eager to enhance multilateral cooperation to jointly promote world peace and development.
