Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the need for high-quality development and the advancement of common prosperity in regions with significant ethnic minority populations. In a recent reply letter, Xi addressed the residents of Jingning She Autonomous County in Zhejiang Province, highlighting the importance of fostering inclusive growth.
Established in 1984, Jingning is the sole autonomous county dedicated to the She ethnic group in China. As of the end of last year, the She population in Jingning stood at 18,410, making up approximately 11 percent of the county's total population.
The local Party and government authorities recently reached out to Xi, celebrating Jingning's achievements over the past four decades. They expressed their commitment to leading the way in promoting common prosperity within ethnic regions.
In his response, Xi commended the county's progress and expressed satisfaction at the improved living standards for people of all ethnic backgrounds. He urged Jingning to continue preserving its rich traditions, strengthen ethnic unity, and leverage its unique advantages to embark on a new chapter of development.
