Xi Jinping Drives Science and Tech Innovation for China’s High-Quality Development

In a pivotal moment for China's modernization efforts, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the crucial role of science and technology (sci-tech) innovation in achieving high-quality development. His remarks were delivered at a joint meeting that combined the national sci-tech conference, the national science and technology award conference, and the general assemblies of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

During the conference, Xi presented medals and certificates to top sci-tech award recipients, including Li Deren, an academician of CAS and CAE from Wuhan University, and Xue Qikun, an academician of CAS from Tsinghua University. Shaking hands with the two distinguished scientists, Xi extended his congratulations for their outstanding contributions to China's scientific advancement.

Xi highlighted that China has achieved significant breakthroughs in fundamental frontier research and has made new leaps in strategic high-tech fields. He noted that innovation-driven high-quality development has produced remarkable results, further solidifying China's position in the global scientific community.

The premier also acknowledged the progress made in international cooperation, stating that collaborative efforts have led to historic achievements in scientific and technological endeavors. These accomplishments underscore China's commitment to leveraging sci-tech innovation as a cornerstone for sustained economic and societal growth.
